We have an open floorplan that doesn't allow much opportunity for the use of baby gates so we made our own. This doesn't work unless you are in Eli jail with him, but if you are wanting to lounge and passively play, he will stay corralled. 
This was a new one this week. We had decorated the Christmas tree and hadn't put the ornament tubs back in the garage yet. Justin was in the living room with Eli, but was watching TV. He glanced over to check on him and Eli was standing on one tub, trying his best to pull the curtain off of the back door! No curtain shown in the picture? Right, b/c I tucked it over the rod so he wouldn't get it.
So if anyone was wondering why we needed a gate around our Christmas tree, here you go! :)
